Welcome to St. Paul Central and your interest in Minutemen football. I hope this letter finds you and your family safe as we navigate through this difficult time. With school now cancelled for the remaining school year we are turning our sights to our summer program. Minutemen football will be instituting a new program for our athletes this summer. ETS Performance will take the reins and train our athletes. Our coaching staff is excited for this opportunity and look forward to all the great things that we have researched that they bring to a program through their strength, speed and agility training. Unfortunately, there is a charge for this program BUT please don’t worry about that at this time we just want to welcome you to our program.
It is our hope that we will begin the summer program Monday June 8th. In the coming weeks you will receive information from me on virtual meetings where we will discuss the summer program, you will meet coaches, the ETS Performance staff and learn much more. ETS training sessions will take place Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 11am-3:30pm. Please contact Coach Howell for football specific workout times.
Optional football workouts during the summer will be starting on June 8-August 7. Practices will be every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:30-4:30pm in Central’s Griffin Stadium.
The official football season starts on Monday, August 17. Practices will be Monday-Friday from 7:30-9:30am and 11:30-1pm from August 17-28. August 31-September 2 practices will be from 2-4pm. Our first varsity game will be on September 3 at Highland Park at 5pm.
Football is a complex game. In order to be successful we believe that it requires you to be reliable and committed to developing the skills, strength, speed, and techniques vital to this game. Even more important, we stress to our players that football, like life, requires each of us to have respect, compassion, understanding for others and the ability to work together as a team. We are proud of how Central players utilize these skills in the classroom, on the football field and in the community.
We welcome you to what we believe will be a fun, rewarding and very successful season. We look forward to meeting you over the summer months. Please feel free to call or email me anytime that you have questions.
